Letter referring to an oracle
Cat. 1975 is a short letter from Deir el-Medina written in the hieratic script, dating to the New Kingdom. It is an answer from a Pharaoh’s general, who remained unnamed, to the scribe of the tomb Tjeri. The letter begins with the praise for what Tjeri has communicated in his previous letter, such as that Tjeri has presented some documents to the god in order that he might judge them in the right way. Then the general announces a new mission: with the help of the scribe Pentahutnekhet, he will settle an affair dealing with Akhmenu, and part of it has been entrusted, by the suggestion of Tjeri himself, to a blacksmith.
