Tomb plan of Ramesses IV (KV 2), 2nd version
On the recto there is a sketch of the tomb of Ramesses IV, the rooms and corridors which are illustrated correspond to the actual tomb of Ramesses IV in Thebes. The whole scene on the papyrus is surrounded by the illustration of a hillside in which the tomb was cut. It is symbolised by a brown-red surface covered with a large amount of elongated dots arranged at an angle in parallel lines, alternately coloured in black and red. In the middle of the large fragment the sarcophagus of the king is shown, the image of the king is represented in the middle of a cartouche with him being flanked by the goddesses Isis and Nephthys. The image is drawn in fine black ink with a white background. The rest of the recto has several captions written in hieratic, these mention the measurements and decoration of the individual rooms as well as activities such as painting and chiseling. The first version of the ground plan seems to be preserved on Cat. 2038.
The verso has several documentary texts of which three stand out. The first one can be found on the first column of the far right side. Just as the recto, this first text deals with the measurements for a royal tomb, although no specific pharaoh is mentioned. The second text is in the middle, and lists the division of property for the children of the scribe Amunnakht; the items that the children receive include: garments, honey, oil, pieces of cloth and mats. The last large text on the left side describes the delivery of grain rations to the crew of Deir el-Medina and travelling to the temple of king Ramesses III.
