Royal decree
The recto of Cat. 1896 records a decree from the royal chancellery of king Ramses XI to the viceroy of Nubia named Panehesy. A request is made of him to cooperate with the royal butler Yenes and send plenty of jasper, crystals, flowers, and other commodities to supply the craftsmen of the Pharaoh.
On the verso there are two hieratic texts, text I is the addressee of the letter on the recto and text II is an administrative record of bread rations. Furthermore, there is a drawing on the verso of a large nb sign (a basket which can mean “lord” or “all”) as well as a second nb sign which is damaged.
