General description

Administrative papyrus

Both the recto and verso of Cat. 1895+2006+2107/407 contain a register of the collection of grain for the Necropolis from royal domains. The viceroy of Kush named Panehesy ordered Djehutymes to transcribe this account. The grain is collected from various temple estates in Upper Egypt (including temples in Thebes, Gebelein and Esna) and then shipped to Western Thebes. This document is a detailed account of amounts of grain received from individual priests, administrators, herdsmen, fishermen and cultivators including many of foreign descent. The grain is then handed over to the mayor of Western Thebes, the chantress of Amun and a scribe where it is stored in the granary of the temple of Ramesses III.
