Necropolis Journals of Year 17 of Ramesses IX’s reign (A-C)
The “Necropolis Journals” are hieratic texts recounting the daily activities of the team of workmen from Deir el-Medina. Thanks to the dates included, we can assign the three parts of the texts displayed here to year 17 of the reign of Pharaoh Ramesses IX. The front side (=recto) contains various notes, for example, concerning the tomb inspections by the administrators of the necropolis and the delayed delivery of grain rations. On the back of the papyrus (=verso), in addition to the names of some of the workmen and their payments granted, there are accounts of fish deliveries and notes on the exchange of goods.
