Book of the Dead fragment

Provv. 6288 is a small fragment of the Book of the Dead made for Padibastet. This section of the papyrus contains part of spell 100 from the Book of the Dead. The text of the spell allowed Padibastet to change into an Akh or "excellent spirit"  and travel in the bark of the sun god Re, as is depicted above the text.

A male figure (the deceased) driving the boat of the sun-god Ra towards the god Osiris, standing on the right in front of a Djed-pillar, holding the Was-scepter. The sun-god is depicted Falcon-headed with sun-disk, the ibis as manifestation of the 'transfigured' soul of the deceased standing behind him.
