Magical papyrus Thoth
Papyrus CGT 54069 is a fragmentary manuscript written in the hieratic script. The manuscript contains magical texts, all copied from the formulas collected on papyrus CGT 54053, which is also a copy of the "Magical book of Thoth" (papyrus CGT 54050).
On the recto of the papyrus two columns of text contain a list of anatomic parts, some of which are associated to the name of deities. This type of list is related to a common practice in ancient Egyptian magic, in which every part of a patient's body was assigned to the protection of a specific deity: in this way the patient was guaranteed full protection from all kind of illnesses and dangers possible.
The verso contains detailed instructions for the recitation of a magical formula. According to the ritual described, the spell must be recited while putting some incense on the fire.
