Magical papyrus Thoth
Papyrus CGT 54054 is a fragmentary manuscript written in the hieratic script. On the recto, three columns of text are preserved, containing various spells copied from the "Magical book of Thoth" (papyrus CGT 54050). The scribe who copied the texts made some mistakes, all of which are corrected in red ink.
The first column contains parts of a protection spell from demonical influences. In the second column, preserved on six fragments, a purification spell is written, in which all body parts of the patient are assigned to deities for protection. The third and last column, preserved on two fragments, contains the final part of the preceding formula.
On the verso of the papyrus two different texts are written. Only a few lines are preserved of the first text; the script is erased, therefore, the reading and interpretation of the text is rather difficult. The second text, written transversely to the first, contains a hymn dedicated to the pharaoh.
