General description

Administrative papyrus

On the recto of Cat. 1946+1949 there are remains of two columns of a necropolis journal which record the days of inactivity and work, deliveries of supplies and a policeman named Amunmes taking Wesekhnemet somewhere.

The verso contains two texts, a necropolis journal entry and an event. The journal entry is a similar text to that of the recto. It has the remains of two columns of a necropolis journal, recording days of inactivity and work, and deliveries of supplies such as dates, vegetables, bread, cakes and jars of beer. The second text begins with the arrival of the chief officer Montumes who makes an announcement to the group of necropolis workers: that Ramesses III has passed away and Ramesses IV has ascended the throne. The text ends with the rejoicing of the workers in celebration of the new Pharaoh until the day is over.
