The Gebelein ostraca project is a PhD research project conducted by Mariantonietta Pascalicchio (Helsinki). It focuses on groups of Demotic and Greek ostraca from Gebelein, a major cult centre in Upper Egypt, whose temples and communities played an important role between the Late and Ptolemaic periods.

Mariantonietta Pascalicchio’s PhD will provide the first systematic edition, translation and commentary of this material, combining close philological analysis with prosopography and historical interpretation.
